One main difference between the two models is the addition of the leap year indicator to the 3 o'clock subsidiary dial and 24-hour indicator to the 9 o'clock subsidiary dial. The Ref. 3970 is now considered a classic by collectors, following in the footsteps of its predecessors Ref. 1518, Ref. 2499. One can distinguish three series in the production of Ref. 3970. A series is defined by variations in case designs or features.
